The Vow Movie - From Story To Screen

The Vow Review
Yesterday night I went to go see The Vow starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. I have to say it was as good as I expected, and from what I've heard my expectations were higher than most. There were somethings that I wish I could've changed, mostly characters behavior about the situation that they found themselves in, but keeping in mind that it was based off a true story about a real couple, probably means it held a little more truth to it. Often a dramatic romantic film thats released around Valentines day can be judged far too harshly or brushed off as a simple "chick flick" but this certainly was not just that. The story was complex and deep, sad, but also left you with an appreciating for life, and showed you a real side to true love. The story is about a married couple, Paige (Rachel McAdams) and Leo (Channing Tatum), who get into a horrible accident one night causing there lives to change dramatically. Paige suffers more injuries and when she wakes from her medically induced coma she cant remember the last five years of her life. She cant remember her husband, her life together, or the love they had for one another. The only life she knows is the one she had long left where she was a different person with different goals and engaged to another man. The movie shows there struggle to deal with this hard blow that life has thrown at them and Leo trying to get back the wife he's still completely in love with. Its unimaginable how hard it was for him to remember there entire life together and what they had, then one day look at that same person who see's you as a stranger and no longer holds that loving look for you in there eyes. It was heart breaking but Leo showed that love can make you strong, and hope can give you the will to go on. This was not Tatum's nor McAdams first time in a romantic drama. In 2010 Tatum was in Dear John and in 2004 McAdams was in The Notebook, both adaptations of a Nicholas Sparks best selling novels. Both movies did very well with outstanding acting (if you havent seen either and you enjoy this genre they are must see's), so I think many people should've expected that both characters would be able to bring that intensity back to the big screen. In this film their chemistry was clear and they played well off of one another's talent making the scenes as raw, emotional, and intense as required. I have to say, though I almost broke down a few times, I was very proud at myself for not really crying, so if you were expecting a sob fest like I was, the writers went a little easy on you there. Being that Valentines is right around the corner this is definitely a good reccomendatin for couples looking to go on a movie date. For anyone who plans on seeing it I hope you enjoy, and anyone who has seen it lemme know what you thought :)
My Movie Rating For This Film: this was not the easiest to rate, though it was good there were some parts that I didn't really care for, I'm on the fence between a B+/A- (If you see it you may catch my dilemma on that one point difference)
